What is “Shraddha” or Faith ?

Image
" Our first duty is not to hate ourselves, because to advance we must have faith in ourselves first and then in God. He who has no faith in himself can never have faith in God. " " Faith, faith, faith in ourselves, faith in God – this is the secret of greatness. If you have faith in the three hundred and thirty millions of your mythological gods, and still have no faith in yourselves, there is no salvation for you. Have faith in yourselves and stand upon that faith and be strong. " " Dear boy, this subtle essence which you do not perceive, out of this subtle essence (of the seed) the large banyan tree stands. Have faith, dear boy; Out of that being which is this subtle essence, the whole Universe has come. That is the Truth. That is the Atman. That thou art, O Svetaketu. “" -Swami Vivekananda

What is spirituality ?

" When the life - blood is strong and pure, no disease germ can live in that body. Our life - blood is spirituality. If it flows clear, if it flows strong and pure and vigorous, everything is right; political, social, any other material defects, even the poverty of the land, will all be cured if that blood is pure. " " That is the national mind, that is the national life - current. Follow it and it leads to glory. Give it up and you die; death will be the only result, annihilation the only effect, the moment you step beyond that life - current. " " So, be you all Rishis and sages; that is the secret. More or less we shall all be Rishis. What is meant by a Rishi? The pure one. Be pure first, and you will have power. Simply saying, "I am a Rishi", will not do; but when you are a Rishi you will find that others obey you instinctively. Something mysterious emanates from you, which makes them follow you, makes them hear you, makes them unco

What is life ?

"Life is a series of fights and disillusionments….The secret of life is not enjoyment but education through experience. But, alas, we are called off the moment we begin really to learn. " “ Man’s life in this world is meaningful and fruitful to the extent that his energies, wealth, intelligence and speech are utilized for the good of others. "  -Swami Vivekananda

Who am I ?

" I am the child of the Divine Mother, the source of all power and strength. If Mother sends me men again in whose heart here is courage, in whose hands strength, in whose eyes there is fire, real children of the Mother – if She gives me even one such, then I shall work again….I want to work at hurricane speed, and I want fearless hearts. " " We are the children of the Almighty, we are sparks of the infinite, divine fire. How can we be nothings? We are everything, ready to do everything, we can do everything, and man must do everything. " - Swami Vivekananda

Man behind exploring God Particle.

Image
The world is celebrating the discovery of the sub-atomic particle at CERN, Geneva, which many believe could well be the long sought after Higgs-Boson. This particle is also called the ‘God Particle’ because its existence is fundamental to the creation of the universe. It was Satyendra Nath Bose, Calcutta physicist, who in the ' 20s theorized the existence of indistinguishable elementary particles, called "bosons" in his honor . Yesterday, CERN in Geneva confirmed the observation of the Higgs boson, which gives particles mass. Over 100 Indian scientists have participated in the experiment.   The " God particle " has a father and not (only) the British Peter Higgs: his name is Satyendra Nath Bose and he was an Indian physicist. It was he who - along with Albert Einstein - in  the 1920s studied and theorized about the statistics of indistinguishable elementary particles ("Bose-Einstein"), later called bosons in his honor. Yet the world continues

Swami Vivekananda's Mahasamadhi-July 4, 1902

Swami Vivekananda traveled world wide spreading the essence of Vedanta. His works and lectures can never be forgotten, he was the one who made the western civilization to understand that Hinduism teaches Self Realization and accept any form as God. Swami Vivekananda's tours, hectic lecturing engagements, private discussions and correspondence had taken their toll on his health. He was suffering from asthma, diabetesand other physical ailments. A few days prior to his demise, he was seen intently studying the almanac. Three days before his death he pointed out the spot for this cremation—the one at which a temple in his memory stands today. He had remarked to several persons that he would not live to be forty. On the day of his death, he taught Shukla-Yajur-Veda to some pupils in the morning at Belur Math.He had a walk with Swami Premananda, a brother-disciple, and gave him instructions concerning the future of the Ramakrishna Math. Vivekananda died at ten minutes pa
